Policies

Last updated: 19th August 2026

This page explains, in plain language, a few practical things about how Kanbedu works: how we handle usernames, display names, and account conduct, and how we ship updates. Our Terms of Service is the legal version of these same policies; this is the practical one.

Updates we don’t announce

We change Kanbedu often: bug fixes, performance improvements, and small adjustments to how something looks or behaves. Not every change gets a changelog entry, an email, or a notification.

The changelog covers the updates we think are worth telling you about. Smaller or purely internal changes may ship quietly, on purpose. Flagging every change would bury the ones that actually matter.

Usernames and display names

Boards and classes work better when everyone can tell who they’re talking to, so names need to stay usable for everyone else on a board. We may change or reset a username or display name that is abusive, threatening, discriminatory, slur-based, impersonating someone else, or otherwise misleading.

How we handle it depends on how serious it is:

  • Borderline names (a bad pun that reads worse than intended, a name that’s confusing rather than harmful) are usually just reset to something neutral, and we’ll try to let you know when we do.
  • Names that are clearly abusive, threatening, or impersonate a real person are reset immediately. We won’t hold off to give advance warning first.

Either way, you can set a new name for yourself afterwards, as long as it follows the same rule.

Account suspension

Most people on Kanbedu never see this section. It exists for the small number of cases involving threats, harassment, hate speech, abuse directed at another user, or attempts to get around a previous moderation decision (for example, making a new account after being restricted). Those can lead to a suspended or permanently closed account.

We’d rather resolve a misunderstanding than suspend an account over one, so where something looks like it could be a one-off or a misread, we’ll usually reach out first. That said, for serious violations we may act immediately, and we’re not obligated to warn you beforehand. Our Terms cover the full authority behind this; this page is just the practical version.

If you think we got it wrong

Mistakes happen, especially with automated or fast decisions. If your name was reset or your account was restricted and you think that was wrong, contact us through Support & Feedback in Settings, or email kanbeduapp@gmail.com, and we’ll take a look.

Reporting someone else

If you come across a name or behaviour on Kanbedu that belongs on this page, let us know the same way, through Support & Feedback in Settings or by emailing kanbeduapp@gmail.com. We look at every report.
